Francis Jabile is a food and flower grower based in Mississauga, Ontario. As an emerging interdisciplinary scholar, he is interested in how and why concepts and practices of “care” are mobilized in agri-food systems to create more inclusive and innovative agricultural futures. Integrating his passion for agricultural sciences, Francis weaves new understandings of agri-food systems through an agrarian care theory framework rooted in feminist care and queer theory literature.

As a farmer and graduate student, he works with local communities to co-create multilingual food guides, bolster urban agriculture projects with newcomers, and support international research connections in the Philippines. Using lived experiences, Francis develops his research methodology through an intersectional lens rooted in the complex systems of care and mobilized through an arts-based approach.
